    Oral Sedation

Oral sedation involves taking a small pill an hour before your appointment. This pill, typically Midazolam, is just as safe as taking a Valium. Patients are awake during the procedure but many have very little memory of the visit. Some patients may fall asleep during the procedure, but can be woken with a gentle shake. Our providers who offer Oral Sedation are certified by the Board of Dentistry in their state.

Why would a child need sedation treatment?

Children who are very fearful of the dentist or require extensive dental treatment may benefit from sedation treatment. Our pediatric specialists may recommend sedation if they believe it will help your child feel more comfortable during their visit. If you are interested in learning more about the sedation options available, our friendly staff would be happy to discuss them with you in more detail.

Is sedation dentistry safe for my child?

Sedation is generally safe for most people. However, it is important to talk to your dentist to make sure your child is a good candidate for sedation to avoid any potential complications.
